Black Falcon dominates in VLN season finale

04. November 2015 -

In the last race of the VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring, PAGID Racing partner Black Falcon celebrated its second overall victory in succession. In the Production Car Trophy and the Speed Trophy, PAGID Racing customers were in contention in the title race.
On clinching the success of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (‘Gerwin’/Manuel Metzger/Philipp Eng) and the triumph of the Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 in the penultimate round, Black Falcon was the first team ever to score overall victories with vehicles from two different manufacturers in two consecutive VLN races. Both cars are equipped with high-performance brake pads by PAGID Racing.

On one of the world’s most difficult race tracks, ‘Gerwin’/Metzger/Eng posted the most consistent lap times in challenging conditions. Following the second pit stop, the trio defended its lead and benefited from race control having stopped the race early due to a slippery track and recurring fog.

The drivers of the Porsche 911 Carrera, Aurel Schoeller/Sören Spreng/Daniel Schwerfeld, as in the previous races, showed an impeccable performance throughout, consistently delivering top times. With a final second place in the number 396 Porsche 991 Carrera in the V6 class, the trio again confirmed its superior driving potential.

Perfect again – both in terms of technical reliability and driving skills – was the performance of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup with Jürgen Bleul, Carsten Knechtges and Tobias Nell that had started in the H4 class. For car number 600, this marked the eighth consecutive victory this year, which meant that the seasoned campaigners commandingly set new standards here.

In the Speed Trophy, PAGID customer Twin Busch Motorsport finished in second place overall. In the crucial contest on the season’s finish straight, the Audi customer team from Bensheim showed its qualities and clinched a victory and two further podium places, including a second place in the new Audi R8 LMS. On clinching their only victory this season, twins Dennis and Marc Busch delivered a concentrated performance and in the Audi R8 LMS ultra were permanently in the group of the front runners, with the first three vehicles being within one second of each other some of the time in the final stage of the race.

Following their overall victory in 2014, Rolf Derscheid and Michael Flehmer were regarded as candidates for the title in the Production Car Trophy as well. The duo fielding a BMW 325i equipped with PAGID high-performance brake pads after the season finale celebrated a highly respectable second place in the overall classification.

In the course of the season, the #1 sports car consistently showed good performances on one of the world’s most awe-inspiring tracks. In the total of ten rounds, Derscheid/Flehmer recorded a class victory in the V4 category, plus seven additional podium places.
