CUPRA trusts in PAGID Racing

27. March 2018 -

SEAT has upgraded its CUPRA performance division to a separate brand. Like SEAT Sport, CUPRA trusts in the brake performance of PAGID Racing. The CUPRA TCR, the first race car of the new sporting brand, will be competing, among others, in the FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR).

CUPRA, brief for ‘Cup Racer’, stands for sportiness and continues SEAT’s tradition in motorsport. SEAT Sport, a partner of PAGID Racing for many years, had numerous achievements in rallying and touring car racing in the past. The new CUPRA brand intends to continue this success story.

The CUPRA TCR is the successor of the Seat Leon Cup Racer and aims at mixing up the field in the FIA World Touring Car Cup. The TCR race car with front-wheel drive is powered by a two-litre turbo engine. There is a choice of two gearbox versions: the production-based six-speed DSG transmission or a sequential six-speed ‘box. The CUPRA TCR accelerates to 100 km/h in less than 5.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 267 km/h.

The CUPRA TCR will be making its FIA World Touring Car Cup race debut during the season opener in Morocco (7-8 April, 2018).
