Drivers’ and teams’ titles for Liqui Moly Team Engstler in TCR Asia Series

10. September 2019 -

A great success in the TCR Asia Series: Luca Engstler defended his title and is the TCR Asia Series champion again. His teammate Diego Morán rounded out the 1-2 in the drivers’ standings for Liqui Moly Team Engstler with his second place. Moreover, the long-standing PAGID Racing partner again secured the title in the teams’ classification. The Car Model of the Year Award for Hyundai crowned the successful performance.

Luca Engstler and Diego Morán staged a thrilling battle for the championship. The title race was only decided in the final race of the TCR Asia Series at Bangsaen International Circuit (Thailand): Diego Morán again showed a strong performance and secured the second win of the weekend with the #23 Hyundai i30N TCR. Luca Engstler ended up third in the race with the #1 Hyundai i30N TCR, which was enough for him to seal the championship title. For the 19-year-old German, it is already his second TCR Asia Series title after 2018. Meanwhile, with a total of four season wins, the impressive pair of victories at the season finale as well as runner-up spot in the championship, his teammate Diego Morán could be highly satisfied with his season performance as well.

For the Liqui Moly Team Engstler, the event at Bangsaen was another perfect weekend in the TCR Asia Series. Back in July, the team had already secured the teams’ title at Zhejiang and now celebrated the fourth drivers’ title in as many years. The Car Model of the Year Award for Hyundai is an additional success.

Luca Engstler: “I am so happy and thankful. I definitely wanted to defend the title and thanks to the great support by our partners and our entire team, I have succeeded. Many thanks for that!”

Diego Morán: “I am really happy with the outcome of the season. Luca deserved it. Sometimes you don’t win the Championship but there will be other opportunities and we will come back stronger.”
