PAGID Racing and Mazda Motorsports: A strong partnership18. December 2020 -
PAGID Racing and Mazda Motorsports have been working together successfully in the USA for many years. The most recent example is the annual shootout for the Mazda scholarships to compete in the 2021 Mazda MX-5 Cup and the 2021 Spec MX-5 Challenge Series.
Whether it is Spec MX-5 Challenge or MX-5 Cup, racers get their stopping power thanks to PAGID Racing. The Mazda MX-5 Cup is the signature spec series for the Mazda Road to 24. Spec MX-5 Challenge Series is a cost-effective pro road racing series with a focus on driver development.
Mazda awards five racing scholarships
The annual shootout for scholarships to support up and coming racers in their ladder system took place at the historic Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. All cars used for the event – the Global MX-5 Miata cars as well as the New Spec MX-5 cars – were equipped with PAGID Racing brake pads. The goal of the event was to find the best driver and off-track representative of Mazda and its partners like PAGID Racing. Nine grassroots Mazda racers contended for three Mazda scholarships to compete in the 2021 Mazda MX-5 Cup. Ten go-karters vied to be part of the Mazda’s first club racing factory team that will run in the Spec MX-5 Challenge Series as NASA Teen Mazda Challenge drivers.
This year the judges chose Aaron Jeansonne for the top scholarship in MX-5 Cup, valued at $110,000. A scholarship valued at $75,000 went to runner-up Chris Nunes and female finalist Savanna Little. In the Spec MX-5 shootout Bryson Morris and Alexander Berg were selected for their consistency across all areas. In 2021, they will compete in the Western Region for Spec MX-5 Challenge.
