Nikko Reger wins PAGID Racing Super Pole Award
20. October 2017 -Nikko Reger (#1 Copeland Motorsports) scored the $5,000 PAGID Racing Super Pole Award. The Texan set the fastest qualifying lap for the Global Mazda MX-5 Cup Challenge at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
Reger broke the previous MX-5 Cup lap record with 1:39.6464 and qualified on pole for both races of the Challenge. The 19-year-old driver was awarded $5,000 for the feat, sponsored by PAGID Racing. “Copeland Motorsports has been grinding all day and all night to get the setup how I want it and it all seemed to come together for this qualifying session”, Reger said. The Texan finished 10th in Race One and seventh in Race Two.
Patrick Gallagher, winner of the 2017 Battery Tender Mazda Global MX-5 Cup Championship, also won the Mazda Global MX-5 Cup Challenge. A second place finish in Race One and victory in Race Two combined to earn him the overall weekend prize of $75,000.
