Asia: Victories at Macau and in the TCR category
13. December 2018 -In the FIA Formula 3 World Cup at Macau, PAGID Racing partner and customer teams locked out the podium: Dan Ticktum (Motopark Academy) repeated his victory from the previous year at the legendary Guia Circuit and was again crowned as the FIA Formula 3 World Champion. His teammate Joel Eriksson and Sacha Fenestraz (Carlin) claimed second and third place respectively. The Liqui Moly Team Engstler also stood out with various titles in the TCR Asia Series and in the TCR Middle East International Series.
Dan Ticktum knows only too well what winning at Macau feels like. In a turbulent race, the 19-year-old driver of the Motorpark Academy team claimed victory in the FIA Formula 3 World Cup with a convincing performance and defended his title as a result. Finishing second, Joel Eriksson completed the 1-2 for the Motopark Academy team. Third place for Carlin driver Sacha Fenestraz rounded out the strong achievement for PAGID Racing.
Once again, Liqui Moly Team Engstler was the outstanding team in the TCR Asia Series in the 2018 season. The team celebrated a clean sweep of the top three in the drivers’ standings and also wrapped up the teams’ title. The Car Model of the Year award for Volkswagen was another success for the team. Luca Engstler is the new TCR Asia Series champion, he finished ahead of his teammates Mitchell Cheah and Diego Moran, who ended up second and third in the championship standings. In the previous year, the team had also won the drivers’ and teams’ titles.
At the start of the year, Luca Engstler had already caught the attention with a strong performance in the TCR Middle East Series. The German secured the drivers’ title in the season finale at Bahrain. His teammate Florian Thoma ended up in third place of the championship standings. Victory for Liqui Moly Team Engstler in the teams’ championship rounded out the success.
