Successful Mazda MX-5 Cup Shootout with support from PAGID Racing

04. November 2021 -

Mazda Motorsports and PAGID Racing form a strong partnership in North America. The latest example is the 2021 Mazda MX-5 Cup Shootout, where all cars once again were equipped with PAGID Racing brake pads.

The selections followed two days of on and off-track evaluation at Sebring International Raceway. Drivers were judged not only by lap times, but also ability to create lasting partnerships, understand and apply data analysis, and overall improvement. The judging panel also included Jim Emerson, PAGID Racing Senior Manager Motorsport.

After a comprehensive judging process Connor Zilisch was declared the winner, earning a scholarship valued at $110,000 to take part in next year’s Mazda MX-5 Cup. Bryce Cornet (Runner-Up) and Laura Hayes (Women’s Initiative) also won Mazda scholarships to compete in next year’s Mazda MX-5 Cup. The scholarships for the Spec MX-5 Challenge Series went to Westin Workman and Nate Cicero.

Jim Emerson, Senior Manager Motorsport: “The Shootout was another great example of partners working together to grow the motorsports category in SportsCars like Mazda Motorsports and PAGID Racing. We together look forward to seeing these futures stars competing to win races and championships.”
